UNEMPLOYMENT PROBLEM IN BANGLADESH
Bangladesh is s small country with large population. This country is widely known as a poor country in the world. She is struggling hard to survive with her hundreds of burning problems. Unemployment problem is one of them.
The word employment’ means an occupation which is productive of wealth. Unemployment is the opposite of employment. When a man is out of any kind of productive work, he is said to be in a state of unemployment. It is very shameful for a man and also for a country.
There are many causes of unemployment problem in Bangladesh. These are:
1) Rapid growth of population,
2) Backwardness industrialization,
3) Lack of capital and technology,
4) Lack of skill,
5) Lack of education,
6) False sense of dignity,
7) Disliking for manual labour,
8) Inequitable distribution of national wealth,
9) Political turmoil of the country,
10) Frequent visit of natural disasters etc.
Unemployment is a great social evil. It makes a man idle. There is a proverb that an idle brain is the workshop of devil. An idle person always indulges in mischief. So, unemployment leads people to various anti-social activities which hamper the normal course of social life. Besides, lack of opportunities for employment makes people frustrated to take education. This problem is also responsible for brain-drain.
In order to solve the problem, we all should come ahead with patriotic zeal in a body. The following measures may prove effective to root out the problem:

- The first necessary thing for the solution of the problem is the industrialization of the country. It means that a large number of mills, factories and firms should be set up throughout the country so that the unemployed can work there.
- Vocational training should be introduced and students should have some training in it.
- Our students and youths should be made to give up their mania for jobs. They should be encouraged to respect manual labour and choose an independent career.
- Steps should be taken to increase our national income to the maximum and distribute it equitably.
- The government should be honest and sincere in their plans and policies.
- Above all, the growth of population should be kept within reasonable limit.
